Make sure that MediaPlayer is installed
Note that both SetupMediaPlayer and UpgradeMediaPlayer must be run
in order for The Alim's audio/video recitation features to work.
- Open a Windows Explorer (or File Manager) window.
- Open the Alim CD-ROM folder.
- Open the folder called REDIST.
- Double-click on SetupMediaPlayer and follow any instructions given.
- Double-click on UpgradeMediaPlayer and follow any instructions given.
- Install (if you haven't already) and run The Alim.
To verify proper installation of MediaPlayer
If you followed the MediaPlayer installation instructions above but The Alim
is still not reciting properly, please check to see if the problem is specific
to your system by trying to run the recitation outside The Alim:
- Click on Windows Start button.
- Select Programs.
- Select Accessories.
- Depending upon your operation system:
- If you have Windows 95 or 98 select Entertainment and launch Windows Media Player.
- If you have Windows NT select Multimedia and launch Windows Media Player.
- In Media Player, click on File, Open.

Click on Browse and go to the location of The Alim CD-ROM. You should be
able to view the files on the CD-ROM.
- Go to the Media directory.
- Go to any Reciter's directory (Basit, Ayub, JDHall).
- Select a file and click on Open.
- Click OK.

Media Player should play the file you selected. If not, click on the
Play icon and the you should hear the file. Make sure the volume is adjusted
appropriately.
