To my understanding, this hadeeth tells us that once a person dies, he can do nothing else except be rewarded for the 3 things mentioned. He reaps the rewards in The Barzakh. The dead can no lonmger be of any benefit to the living. Instead, it is the living who could pray to invoke Allaah's blessings for the dead. It is wrong to think that the dead, especially those considered to be saints, can be of any service to the living. And Allaah knows best.
