الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ


Asad : [Woe unto him2] who amasses wealth and counts it a safeguard,
Khattab :

who amasses wealth ˹greedily˺ and counts it ˹repeatedly˺,

Malik : who amasses wealth and keeps on counting it.
Pickthall : Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it.
Yusuf Ali : Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by
Transliteration : Allathee jamaAAa malan waAAaddadahu

AMASSING, PILING UP WEALTH - no mistake about this, but the second part of the translation is very confusing and unusable because it is just conjecture.

Asad 2 This repetitive interpolation is necessary because the blameworthy attitude spoken of in verses {2-3} obviously belongs to a category entirely different from the two mentioned in verse {1}.
