إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ بِهِ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا بِهِ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

Asad : He is nothing but a madman: so bear with him for a while."
Khattab :

He is simply insane, so bear with him for a while.”1 

Malik : Some of them said: "He is just a madman, so bear with him for a while."
Pickthall : He is only a man in whom is a madness, so watch him for a while.
Yusuf Ali : (And some said:) "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time." 2886
Transliteration : In huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heenin

Yusuf Ali 2886 I construe this to be a speech of another group among them. They thought he was mad, and best left alone. His madness would run out, or he would come to an evil end.

 So he may recover from his “madness” or die.
