إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ


Asad : [bidding them to call out his troops and to proclaim:] "Behold, these [children of Israel] are but a contemptible band;29
Khattab :

˹and said,˺ “These ˹outcasts˺ are just a handful of people,

Malik : and to mobilize his people he said: "These Israelites are but a handful of people,
Pickthall : (Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop,
Yusuf Ali : (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band
Transliteration : Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona

Asad 29 Lit., "a small band": Zamakhshari, however, suggests that in this context the adjective qalilun is expressive of contempt, and does not necessarily denote "few in numbers".
