Surah 27. An-Naml, Ayah 20
| وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِيَ لَا أَرَى الْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَائِبِينَ |
| Transliteration | : | wa- tafaqqada at.- t.ayr fa- qaala maa li- -y laa araa al- hudhud 'am kaana min al- ghaa'iben |
| Pickthall | : | And he sought among the birds and said: How is it that I see not the hoopoe, or is he among the absent? |
| Asad | : | And [one day] he looked in vain for [a particular one of] the birds; and so he said: "How is it that I do not see the hoopoe? Or could he be among the absent? |
| Malik | : | He took a roll call of the birds and said: "I do not see the hoopoe, where is he? How could he be absent? |
| Yusuf Ali | : | And he took a muster of the Birds; and he said: "Why is it I see not the Hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees? 3262 |
