God grants abundant sustenance, or gives it in scant measure, to whichever He wills of His crea-tures: for, behold, God has full knowledge of everything.57
  - Mohammad Asad

Sc., "and, hence, knows what is really good and, from the viewpoint of His unfathomable plan, necessary for each living being".

Allah gives abundantly to whom He pleases and sparingly to whom He wills; surely Allah has knowledge of all things.
  - Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
Allah gives abundant or limited provisions to whoever He wills of His servants. Surely Allah has 'full' knowledge of everything.
  - Mustafa Khattab
Allah maketh the provision wide for whom He will of His bondmen, and straiteneth it for whom (He will). Lo! Allah is Aware of all things.
  - Marmaduke Pickthall
Allah enlarges the sustenance (which He gives) to whichever of His servants He pleases; and He (similarly) grants by (strict) measure (as He pleases): for Allah has full knowledge of all things. 3495
  - Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Cf. xiii. 26. Unequal gifts are not a sign of chaos in Allah's universe. Allah provides for all according to their real needs and their most suitable requirements, according to His perfect knowledge and understanding of His creatures.
