Al-Quran Grammar      Prev      Go   Next

Asad : simply because they claim, "The fire will most certainly not touch us for more than a limited number of days":17 and thus the false beliefs which they invented have [in time] caused them to betray their faith.18
Khattab :

This is because they say, “The Fire will not touch us except for a few days.” They have been deceived in their faith by their wishful lying.

Malik : This is because they say: "The fire of Hell shall not touch us; even if it does, it will be for a few days." In their religion they are deceived by their own self-invented beliefs.
Pickthall : That is because they say: The Fire will not touch us save for a certain number of days. That which they used to invent hath deceived them regarding their religion.
Yusuf Ali : This because they say: "The fire shall not touch us but for a few numbered days"; for their forgeries deceive them as to their own religion. 368
Transliteration : Thalika biannahum qaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatin wagharrahum fee deenihim ma kanoo yaftaroona
