Surah 3. Al-i'Imran, Ayah 54
| وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ |
| Transliteration | : | wa- makaro wa- makara 'allaah wa- 'allaah khayr al- maakiren |
| Pickthall | : | And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers. |
| Asad | : | And the unbelievers schemed [against Jesus];44 but God brought their scheming to nought: for God is above all schemers. |
| Malik | : | The unbelievers among the children of Israel plotted against Isa and Allah also devised a plan to raise him up, and Allah is the best in planning. |
| Yusuf Ali | : | And (then unbelievers) plotted and planned and Allah too planned and the best of planners is Allah. 393 |
Note - 44Lit., "they schemed" - here referring to those among the
Jews who refused to acknowledge Jesus as a prophet and
tried to destroy him.

Note - 393The Arabic Makara has both a bad and a good meaning, that
of making an intricate plan to carry out some secret
purpose. The enemies of Allah are constantly doing that.
But Allah-in whose hands is all good-has His plans also,
against which the evil ones will have no chance whatever.

The Arabic Makara has both a bad and a good meaning, that of making an intricate plan to carry out some secret purpose. The enemies of Allah are constantly doing that. But Allah-in whose hands is all good-has His plans also, against which the evil ones will have no chance whatever. |
