فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ


Asad : Thus he incited his people to levity, and they obeyed him: for, behold, they were people depraved!
Khattab :

And so he fooled his people, and they obeyed him. They were truly a rebellious people.

Malik : Thus did he incite his people and they obeyed him; surely they were a nation of transgressors.
Pickthall : Thus he persuaded his people to make light (of Moses), and they obeyed him. Lo! they were a wanton folk.
Yusuf Ali : Thus did he make fools of his people and they obeyed him: Truly were they a people rebellious (against Allah).
Transliteration : Faistakhaffa qawmahu faataAAoohu innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena
