وَتَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَأَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ


Asad : And thou canst see many of them vie with one another in sinning and tyrannical conduct and in their swallowing of all that is evil.
Khattab :

You see many of them racing towards sin, transgression, and consumption of forbidden gain. Evil indeed are their actions!

Malik : You will see many of them try to beat each other in sin and rancor, and they consume what is unlawful. Evil indeed is what they do.
Pickthall : And thou seest many of them vying one with another in sin and transgression and their devouring of illicit gain. Verily evil is what they do.
Yusuf Ali : Many of them dost thou see racing each other in sin and rancor and their eating of things forbidden. Evil indeed are the things that they do. 771
Transliteration : Watara katheeran minhum yusariAAoona fee alithmi waalAAudwani waaklihimu alssuhta labisa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Yusuf Ali 771 Eating of things forbidden: may be construed in a literal or a figurative sense. From its juxtaposition with sin and hatred, it is better to construe it in a figurative sense, as referring to their fraudulent misappropriations of other people's property or trust property. "Eating" is used in v. 66 below in the general sense of enjoyment and happiness.
