كَانُوا لَا يَتَنَاهَوْنَ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ فَعَلُوهُ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ

Asad : They would not prevent one another from doing whatever hateful things they did: vile indeed was what they were wont to do!
Khattab :

They did not forbid one another from doing evil. Evil indeed was what they did!

Malik : They would not forbid one another from committing iniquities; evil indeed were their deeds.
Pickthall : They restrained not one another from the wickedness they did. Verily evil was that they used to do!
Yusuf Ali : Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did. 788
Transliteration : Kanoo la yatanahawna AAan munkarin faAAaloohu labisa ma kanoo yafAAaloona

Yusuf Ali 788 There are bad men in every community, but if leaders connive at the misdeeds of the commonalty,-and even worse, if leaders themsevles share in the misdeeds, as happened with the Pharisees and Scribes against whom Jesus spoke out, then that community is doomed.
