Surah 6. Al-An'am, Ayah 20

Transliteration : 'alladhena 'aataynaa -hum al- kitaab yacrifon -hu ka-maa yacrifon abnaa' -hum 'alladhena khasiro anfus -hum fa- hum laa yu'minon
Pickthall : Those unto whom We gave the Scripture recognize (this Revelation) as they recognize their sons. Those who ruin their own souls will not believe.
Asad : They unto whom We have vouchsafed revelation aforetime know this14 as they know their own children; yet those [of them] who have squandered their own selves - it is they who refuse to believe.
Malik : Those to whom We have given the Book know this fact as they know their own sons. In fact those who have lost their souls, will not believe.
Yusuf Ali : Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe. 850

Yusuf Ali 850 Cf. ii. 146 and n. 151. In both passages the pronoun translated "this" may mean "him" and refer to Muhammad the Apostle of God, as some commentators think.
