Surah 68. Al-Qalam, Ayah 43
| خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ |
| Transliteration | : | khaashicah abs.aar -hum tarhaq -hum dhillah wa- qad kaano yudcawn 'ilaa as- sujod wa- hum saalimon |
| Pickthall | : | With eyes downcast, abasement stupefying them. And they had been summoned to prostrate themselves while they were yet unhurt. |
| Asad | : | downcast will be their eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them - seeing that they had been called upon [in vain] to prostrate themselves [before Him] while they were yet sound [and alive]. |
| Malik | : | They shall stand with eyes downcast, utterly humbled; because during their safe and sound earthly life they were called upon to prostrate themselves but they refused to do so. |
| Yusuf Ali | : | Their eyes will be cast down ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration while they were whole (and had refused). 5623 5624 |
