Surah 68. Al-Qalam, Ayah 43



خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ


Transliteration : khaashicah abs.aar -hum tarhaq -hum dhillah wa- qad kaano yudcawn 'ilaa as- sujod wa- hum saalimon
Pickthall : With eyes downcast, abasement stupefying them. And they had been summoned to prostrate themselves while they were yet unhurt.
Asad : downcast will be their eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them - seeing that they had been called upon [in vain] to prostrate themselves [before Him] while they were yet sound [and alive].
Malik : They shall stand with eyes downcast, utterly humbled; because during their safe and sound earthly life they were called upon to prostrate themselves but they refused to do so.
Yusuf Ali : Their eyes will be cast down ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration while they were whole (and had refused). 5623 5624
