It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
"The Messenger of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'There has come to you
Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it the gates of heavens are opened and
the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months;whoever
is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived."
[Sunan an-Nasa'i]
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
Allah's Messenger ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "Allah
said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.'
There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his
Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."
[Al Bukhari]

Excellence of Lailat-ul Qadr
"Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur'an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of
Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it
is until emergence of dawn.
[Al Qadr 1 - 5]
Narrated Abu Hurairah :
Allah's Messenger ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "Whoever establishes the prayers
on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not to show off) then all his past sins will be
forgiven."
[Al Bukhari]
'Aishah reported: I asked: "O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr
(Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?" He صلى الله عليه وسلم
replied, "You should supplicate: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُو ٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me."
[Ibn Majah]
