Malik ibn AbuMaryam said: AbdurRahman ibn Ghanam entered upon usand we discussed tila' and he said: AbuMalik al-Ash'ari told methat he heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Someof my people will assuredly drink wine calling it by anothername.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The best servants of Allah are those who, when they are seen, cause Allah to be remembered. The worst servants of Allah are those who go about slandering, who separate friends, and seek to distress the upright."
Ahmad and Bayhaqi, in Shu'ab al-Iman, transmitted it.
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: He who recites ten times before getting up (from the place of worship) and bending his steps back from the sunset and the dawn prayers: "There is no god but Allah, the One, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him is praise due; in His hand is the good; He gives life and causes death; and He is Potent over everything," for him are recorded for every recital ten good deeds and ten of his sins are obliterated and he is increased ten ranks. He is safeguarded against every unpleasantness, he is safeguarded against Satan, the accursed, and no sin destroys him except associating anything with Allah and he will be the most excellent amongst men in regard to good deeds except the person who excels him in uttering something more excellent than that which he has uttered.
Transmitted by Ahmad and Tirmidhi. Tirmidhi's version ends at `...associating with Allah..' and Maghrib is not mentioned nor is the word `..in His hand is good..'. Tirmidhi commented: This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith.
AbdurRahman reported on the authority of his uncle that thepeople of the tribe Aslam came to the Prophet (peace be uponhim). He said (to them): Did you fast on this day? They replied:No. He said: Complete the rest of your day, and make atonementfor it.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) addressed us when wewere at Mina. Our ears were open and we were listening to what hewas saying, while we were in our dwellings. He began to teachthem the rites of hajj till he reached the injunction of throwingpebbles at the Jamrahs (pillars at Mina). He put his forefingersin his ears and said: (Throw small pebbles. He then commanded theEmigrants (Muhajirun) to station themselves. They stationedthemselves before the mosque. He then commanded the Helpers(Ansar) to encamp. They encamped behind the mosque. Thereafterthe people encamped.
When the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) conquered Mecca, Isaid (to myself): I shall put on my clothes, and my house lay onthe way, I shall watch how the Apostle of Allah (peace be uponhim) behaves. So I went out. I saw that the Prophet (peace beupon him) and his Companions had come out from the Ka'bah andembraced the House (the Ka'bah) from its entrance (al-Bab) toal-Hatim. They placed their cheek on the House (the Ka'bah) whilethe Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) was amongst them.
During the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) Iwas shooting my arrows in Medina, when an eclipse of the sun tookplace. I, therefore, threw them away and said, I must see how theMessenger of Allah (peace be upon him) acts in a solar eclipsetoday. When I came to him, he had been supplicating with hishands, raised, pronouncing AllahuAkbar, praising Him,acknowledging that He is One God till the eclipse was over, thenhe recited two surahs and prayed two rak'ahs.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Do not swear byidols, nor by your fathers.
AbuLabid said: We were with AbdurRahman ibn Samurah ibn Kabul.The people got booty and plundered it. He stood and addressed(the people): I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him)prohibiting getting property from the booty before itsdistribution. Therefore, they returned what they had taken, Hethen distributed it among them.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) prohibited to peck likea crow, and to spread (the forearms) like a wild beast, and tofix a place in the mosque like a camel which fixes its place.These are the wordings of Qutaybah.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade to eat the fleshof lizard.
AbdurRahman reported on the authority of his mother: When theApostle of Allah (peace be upon him) passed any place from thehouse of Ya'la,--the narrator Ubaydullah forgot its name--hefaced the House (the Ka'bah) and supplicated.
When a physician consulted the Prophet (peace be upon him) aboutputting frogs in medicine, he forbade him to kill them.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) forbade taking into custodythe stray thing of the pilgrims.
AbdurRahman was told the following by one who had heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say it: "Among the last of this people will be some who will have a reward like that of the first of them. They will recommend what is reputable, forbid what is disreputable, and fight those who cause dissensions."
Bayhaqi transmitted in Dala'il an-Nubuwwah.
A man who had drunk wine was brought before the Prophet (peace beupon him) when he was in Hunayn. He threw some dust on his face.He then ordered his Companions and they beat him with theirsandals and whatever they had in their hands. He then said tothem: Leave him, and they left him. The Apostle of Allah (peacebe upon him) then died, and AbuBakr gave forty lashes fordrinking wine, and then Umar in the beginning of his Caliphateinflicted forty stripes and at the end of his Caliphate heinflicted eighty stripes. Uthman (after him) inflicted bothpunishments, eighty and forty stripes, and finally Mu'awiyahestablished eighty stripes.
I was with the Prophet when he was urging the people to help the army of distress. Uthman got up and said, "Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) I shall provide for Allah's cause a hundred camels with their cloths and saddles." Afterwards he urged that help be given to the army, and Uthman got up and said, "I shall provide for Allah's cause two hundred camels with their cloths and saddles." Again he urged and Uthman got up and said, "I shall provide for Allah's cause three hundred camels with their cloths and saddles." I saw Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) coming down from the pulpit, and he was saying, "Anything he does will not count against Uthman after this; anything he does will not count against Uthman after this."
Tirmidhi transmitted it.
Once the Prophet went out after sunset and heard a dreadful voice, and said, "The Jews are being punished in their graves."
Hudhaifa said, "In fact, it was hypocrisy that existed in the lifetime of the Prophet but today it is Kufr (disbelief) after belief."
That Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari said that the Prophet had sent him to Yemen and he asked the Prophet about certain (alcoholic) drink which used to be prepared there. The Prophet said, "What are they?" Abu Musa said, "Al-Bit' and Al-Mizr?" He said, "Al-Bit is an alcoholic drink made from honey; and Al-Mizr is an alcoholic drink made from barley." The Prophet said, "All intoxicants are prohibited."
I asked Ibn 'Umar,"(What is said regarding) a man divorces his wife during her period?" He said, "Do you know Ibn 'Umar? Ibn 'Umar divorced his wife while she was menstruating. 'Umar then went to the Prophet and mentioned that to him. The Prophet ordered him to take her back and when she became clean, he could divorce her if he wanted." I asked (Ibn 'Umar), "Was that divorce counted as one legal divorce?" He said, "If one becomes helpless and foolish (will he be excused? Of course not)."
The Prophet used to invoke Allah in his prayer, "O Allah! Save 'Aiyash bin Abi Rabi'a and Salama bin Hisham and Al-Walid bin Al-Walid; O Allah! Save the weak among the believers; O Allah! Be hard upon the tribe of Mudar and inflict years (of famine) upon them like the (famine) years of Joseph."
