(Sometimes) when the Prophet (peace be upon him) led the prayer some people belonging to the group of the Companions of Suffah fell down from their standing posture on account of the (extreme weakness due to the) intensity of hunger. The villagers used to say that they were insane. After concluding the prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would go to them and say: If you could know what is there for you with Allah, the Exalted, you would like to have the pangs of your starvation and lack of provision increased.

TheProphet (peace be upon him) said: Leave it, for destruction comesfrom being near disease.
I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He then narrated therest of the tradition. A man from the people said: "Apostle ofAllah! tell us about Saba'; what is it: land or woman? Hereplied: It is neither land nor woman; it is a man to whom tenchildren of the Arabs were born: six of them lived in the Yemenand four lived in Syria. Asma' bint Al Bakr said, "I came to 'Aisha the wife of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) during the solar eclipse. The people were standing and offering the prayer and she was also praying too. I asked her, 'What has happened to the people?' She pointed out with her hand towards the sky and said, 'Subhan-Allah'. I said, 'Is there a sign?' She pointed out in the affirmative." Asma' further said, "I too then stood up for the prayer till I fainted and then poured water on my head. When Allah's Apostle had finished his prayer, he thanked and praised Allah and said, 'I have seen at this place of mine what I have never seen even Paradise and Hell. No doubt, it has been inspired to me that you will be put to trial in the graves like or nearly like the trial of (Masih) Ad-Dajjal. (I do not know which one of the two Asma' said.) (The angels) will come to everyone of you and will ask what do you know about this man (i.e. Muhammad). The believer or a firm believer (I do not know which word Asma' said) will reply, "He is Muhammad, Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) who came to us with clear evidences and guidance, so we accepted his teachings, believed and followed him." The angels will then say to him, "Sleep peacefully as we knew surely that you were a firm believer." The hypocrite or doubtful person (I do not know which word Asma' said) will say, 'I do not know. I heard the people saying something so I said it (the same).' "

When Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) entered the mosque, he invoked blessings and peace for himself and then used to say: My Lord, pardon me of my faults and open for me the gates of Thy mercy. As he went out of the mosque he would supplicate for blessings and peace for Muhammad (himself) and say: My Lord, pardon me of my faults and open for me the doors of Thy favour. In the version of Ahmad and Ibn Majah (the words are): She said: As he entered the mosque and as he came out he used to say: In the name of Allah and a blessing of peace upon the Messenger of Allah instead of praying for the blessings and safety for Muhammad himself.

AbuAmr ibn Hafs divorced her absolutely when he was away fromhome, and he sent his agent to her with some barley. She wasdispleased with him and when he said: I swear by Allah that youhave no claim on us, she went to Allah's Messenger (peace be uponhim) and mentioned that to him. He said: There is no maintenancedue to you from him, and he commanded her to spend the Iddah inthe house of Umm Sharik, but then said: That is a woman whom mycompanions visit. So you had better spend this period in thehouse of Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is a blind man and you can takeoff your garments. And when the Iddah is over, inform me. Shesaid: When my period of Iddah was over, I mentioned to him thatMu'awiyah ibn AbuSufyan and Jahm had sent proposals of marriageto me.Thereupon Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Asfor AbuJahm, he does not put down his staff from his shoulder, and as for Mu'awiyah, he is a poor man, having no property. MarryUsamah ibn Zayd. I objected to him, but he again said: MarryUsamah. So I married him. Allah blessed our marriage and I wasenvied (by others).

Urwah ibn az-Zubayr said that Fatimah daughter of AbuHubayshnarrated to him that she asked the Apostle of Allah (peace beupon him) and complained to him about the flowing of (her) blood. The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said to her: That isonly (due to) a vein: look, when your menstruation comes, do notpray; and when your menstruation ends, wash yourself and thenoffer prayer during the period from one menstruation to another.
AbuSalamah reported on the authority of Fatimah daughter of Qayswho said to him that she was the wife of AbuHafs ibn al-Mughirahwho divorced her by three pronouncements. She said that she cameto the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) and sought hisopinion about her going out from her house. He commanded her toshift to (the house of )Ibn Umm Maktum who was blind. Marwandenied to confirm the tradition of Fatimah about the going out ofa divorced woman from her house. Urwah said: Aisha objected toFatimah daughter of Qays.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) once delayed thecongregational night prayer. He came out and said: The talk ofTamim ad-Dari detained me. He transmitted it to me from a man whowas on of of the islands of the sea. All of a sudden he found awoman who was trailing her hair. He asked: Who are you? Shesaid: I am the Jassasah. Go to that castle. So I came to it andfound a man who was trailing his hair, chained in iron collars, and leaping between Heaven and Earth. I asked: Who are you? Hereplied: I am the Dajjal (Antichrist). Has the Prophet of theunlettered people come forth now? I replied: Yes. He said: Havethey obeyed him or disobeyed him? I said: No, they have obeyedhim. Amir ibn Sharahil ash-Sha'bi said: Fatimah bint Qays was amongthe first emigrant women. I asked her to narrate to me a hadithwhich she had heard directly from Allah's Apostle (peace be uponhim) and there was no extra link between them. She said: Verywell, if you like, I am prepared to do that. He said to her:Well, do so and narrate it to me. She said: I married the son ofMughirah and he was a chosen young man of Quraysh at that time, but he fell as a martyr in the first Jihad (fighting on the sideof Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him)). When I became a widow,AbdurRahman ibn Awf, one of the group of the companions ofAllah's Apostle. sent me a proposal of marriage. Allah's Apostle(peace be upon him) also sent me such a message for his freedslave, Usamah ibn Zayd. It had been conveyed to me that Allah'sApostle (peace be upon him) had said (about Usamah): He who lovesme should also love Usamah. When Allah's Apostle (peace be uponhim) talked to me (about this matter), I said: My affairs are inyour hands. You may marry me to anyone you wish. He said: You hadbetter move now to the house of Umm Sharik. Umm Sharik was a richlady from among the Ansar. She spent generously for the cause ofAllah and entertained guests very hospitably. I said: Well, Ishall do as you wish. He said: Do not do that because Umm Sharikis a woman who is very frequently visited by guests and I do notlike your head to be uncovered or removed from your shank and thestrangers may catch sight of that which you abhor. You had bettermove to the house of your cousin, Abdullah ibn Amr ibn UmmMaktum. He was one of the Banu Fihr branch of the Quraysh, and hebelonged to that tribe (to which Fatimah) belonged. So I moved tothat house, and when my period of waiting was over, I heard thevoice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayerwould be observed in the mosque (where) congregational prayer (isobserved). So I set out towards the mosque and observed prayerwith the Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) and I was in the rowof the women which was near the row of men. When Allah's Apostle(peace be upon him) had finished his prayer, he sat on thepulpit, smiling, and said: Every worshipper should remain sittingin his place. He then said: Do you know why I have asked you toassemble? They said: Allah and His apostle know best. He said:By Allah, I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for awarning. I have detained you here because Tamim Dari, a Christianwho came and accepted Islam, told me something which agrees withwhat I was telling you about the Dajjal. He narrated to me thathe had sailed in a ship with thirty men of Banu Lakhm and BanuJudham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these (waves) took them (near) the land within the ocean(island) at the time of sunset. They sat in a small rowing-boatand landed on that island. There was a beast with long thick hair(and because of this) they could not distinguish his face fromhis back. They said: Woe to you, who can you be? Thereupon itsaid: I am al-Jassasah. They said: What is al-Jassasah? It said:O people, go to this person in the monastery as he is very mucheager to know about you. He (the narrator) said: When it named aperson for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a Devil. Then we hurried on till we came to that monastery and found awell-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and ironshackles gripping his legs by the ankles. We said: Woe to you,who are you? He said: You soon come to know about me, but tell mewho you are. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarkedupon a boat but the waves had been driving us for one month andthey brought us near this island. We took to the rowing-boats andlanded on this island. Here a beast with profusely thick hair metus and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not bedistinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee, who areyou? It said: I am al- Jassasah. We said: What is al-Jassasah? It said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he iseagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you inhot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He (that chainedperson) said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baysan. Wesaid: In which respect do you seek information about it? Hesaid: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not.We said:Yes. Thereupon he said: I think these will not bear fruit. Hesaid: Inform me about the lake of Tabariyyah? We said: What doyou want to know about it? He said: Is there water in it? Theysaid: There is an abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: Ithink it will soon dry up. He again said: Inform me about thespring of Zughar. They said: What do you want to know about it? He (the chained person) said: Is there water in it and does itirrigate (the land)? We said to him: Yes, there is an abundanceof water in it and the inhabitants (of Medina) irrigate (land)with its help.He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet;what has he done? We said: He has left Mecca and has settled inYathrib (Medina). He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? Wesaid: Yes. He said: How does he deal with him? We informed himthat he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they hadsubmitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Had itactually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is sothat is better for them that they show obedience to him. I amgoing to tell you about myself. I am the Dajjal and will be soonpermitted to leave. So I shall leave and travel in the land, andshall not spare any town where I shall not stay for forty nightsexcept Mecca and Medina: these two (places) are prohibited(areas) for me and I shall not attempt to enter either of them.An angel with a sword in his hand will confront me and bar my wayand there will be angels to guard every road leading to it. ThenAllah's apostle (peace be upon him) striking the pulpit with thehelp of the end of his staff said: This implies Tayba meaningMedina. Have I not told you an account (of the Dajjal) like this? The people said: Yes, and this account narrated by Tamim Dari wasliked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to youin regard to him (Dajjal) at Medina and Mecca. Behold he (Dajjal)is in the Syrian sea (Mediterranean) or the Yemen sea (Arabiansea). Nay, on the contrary, he is in the east, he is in the east,he is in the east, and he pointed with his hand towards the east.I (Fatimah bint Qays) said: I preserved it in my mind (thisnarration from Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him).
I said: Apostle of Allah, I have embraced Islam and two sistersare my wives. He said: Divorce any one of them you wish.
Musa bin 'Uqba said, "I saw Salim bin 'Abdullah looking for some places on the way and prayed there. He narrated that his father used to pray there, and had seen the Prophet praying at those very places."
Narrated Nafi' on the authority of Ibn 'Umar who said, "I used to pray at those places." Musa the narrator added, "I asked Salim on which he said, 'I agree with Nafi' concerning those places, except the mosque situated at the place called Sharaf Ar-Rawha."
This hadith is about the various places on the way from Medina to Mecca where the Prophet prayed and their locations impossible to translate.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) taught me and what hetaught me is this: Observe the five prayers regularly. He said: Itold (him): I have many works at these times; so give me acomprehensive advice which, if I follow, should be enough for me.He said: Observe the two afternoon prayers (al-asrayn). But theterm al-asrayn (two afternoon prayers) was not used in ourlanguage. Hence I said: What is al-asrayn? He said: A prayerbefore the sunrise and a prayer before the sunset (i.e. the dawnand the afternoon prayers).
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was brought a necklace in whichthere were gold and pearls. (The narrators AbuBakr and (Ahmad)Ibn Mani' said: The pearls were set with gold in it, and a manbought it for nine or seven dinars.) The Prophet (peace be uponhim) said: (It must not be sold) till the contents are consideredseparately. The narrator said: He returned it till the contentswere considered separately. The narrator Ibn Asa said: By this Iintended trade.
Abdullah ibn Buraydah said: A man from the companions of theProphet (peace be upon him) travelled to Fudalah ibn Ubayd whenhe was in Egypt. He came to him and said: I have not come to youto visit you. But you and I heard a tradition from the Apostle ofAllah (peace be upon him). I hope you may have some knowledge ofit. He asked: What is it? He replied: So and so. He said: Whydo I see you dishevelled when you are the ruler of this land? Hesaid: The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) has forbidden usto indulge much in luxury. He said: Why do I see you unshod? Hereplied: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to command us to gobarefoot at times.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) heard a personsupplicating during prayer. He did not mention the greatness ofAllah, nor did he invoke blessings on the Prophet (peace be uponhim). The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: He madehaste. He then called him and said either to him or to any otherperson: If any of you prays, he should mention the exaltation ofhis Lord in the beginning and praise Him; he should then invokeblessings on the Prophet (peace be upon him); thereafter heshould supplicate Allah for anything he wishes.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded to kill him:he was a spy of AbuSufyan and an ally of a man of the Ansar. Hepassed a circle of the Ansar and said: I am a Muslim. A man fromthe Ansar said, Apostle of Allah, he is saying that he is aMuslim. The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: There arepeople among you in whose faith we trust. Furat ibn Hayyan is oneof them.
Zaynab, daughter of Ka'b ibn Ujrah narrated that Furay'ahdaughter of Malik ibn Sinan, told her that she came to theApostle of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked him whether shecould return to her people, Banu Khidrah, for her husband wentout seeking his slaves who ran away. When they met him atal-Qudum, they murdered him. So I asked the Apostle of Allah(peace be upon him): "Should I return to my people, for he didnot leave any dwelling house of his own and maintenance for me? She said: The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) replied: Yes. She said: I came out, and when I was in the apartment or in themosque, he called for me, or he commanded (someone to call me)and, therefore, I was called. He said: what did you say? So Irepeated my story which I had already mentioned about my husband.Thereupon he said: Stay in your house till the term lapses. Shesaid: So I passed my waiting period in it (her house) for fourmonths and ten days. When Uthman ibn Affan became caliph, he sentfor me and asked me about that; so I informed him, and hefollowed it and decided cases accordingly.
