Tubba

Example of the sinful people of

Are these people better than the people of Tubba and those whowere before them? We destroyed them all only because they hadbecome criminals.

Tubba'

Tubba'

44 : 37

Are these people better than the people of Tubba and those whowere before them? We destroyed them all only because they hadbecome criminals.

Turning Away

Admonition, from the

74 : 49

Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from thisadmonition?

74 : 50

Like frightened donkeys

74 : 51

fleeing from a lion.

74 : 52

Nay, each of them wants a scripture of his own to be unrolledbefore them.

74 : 53

But no! The fact is that they do not fear the Hereafter.

Christians from a judgement by the Quran, of the

5 : 49

So, O Muhammad, pronounce judgement among them according to thelaw which Allah has revealed and do not follow their vaindesires, and beware of them lest they tempt you away from a partof that which Allah has revealed to you. If they reject yourjudgement, then know that it is Allah's wish to scourge them forsome of their sins. In fact most of the people are transgressors.

Disbelievers, from

32 : 30

Therefore, pay no heed to them, and wait as they are waiting.

37 : 174

So give no heed to them for a while;

37 : 175

you will see their downfall as they shall see your victory.

37 : 176

Do they wish to hurry on Our punishment?

37 : 177

But dreadful will be that morning, when it will descend in thecourtyards of those who have been forewarned.

37 : 178

So pay no heed to them for a while.

37 : 179

You will surely see their downfall as they shall see yourvictory.

51 : 54

So, O Prophet, ignore them; you are not at fault.

54 : 5

and profound wisdom to serve as a warning, but warnings are of nouse to these people.

If they reject yourjudgement, then know that it is Allah's wish to scourge them forsome of their sins. In fact most of the people are transgressors.

Making Faith a screen for turning people away from the Path of Allah

63 : 2

They use their faith as a disguise, and thus debar others fromthe Way of Allah. Evil is indeed what they do.

Mention of Allah, from the

21 : 42

Ask them, "Who is there to protect you by night and by day fromthe wrath of the Compassionate?" Yet they turn away from theadmonition of their Rabb.

Message of Allah, from the

20 : 124

but the one who will turn away from My reminder shall live ameager life and We shall raise him back to life as a blind personon the Day of Resurrection."

20 : 125

He will say: "O Rabb! Why have you raised me up blind here, whileI was clear-sighted before?"

20 : 126

Allah will say: "Just as Our revelation came to you and youplayed blind; so are you blind today."

20 : 127

Thus do We reward the one who is a transgressor and does notbelieve in the revelations of his Rabb. The punishment of theHereafter is more terrible and more lasting.

44 : 10

Well! Wait for the Day when the sky will pour down visible smoke.

44 : 11

Enveloping all mankind; this will be a painful punishment.

44 : 12

Then the mankind will say: "Our Rabb! Remove from us thispunishment, surely we have become real believers."

44 : 13

But how can the acceptance of Our Message at that time bebeneficial to them? A Rasool (Muhammad), who made the thingsclear, has come to them

44 : 14

yet they deny him, saying: "He is a madman, taught by others!"

44 : 15

We shall remove the affliction (famine from which they weresuffering) for a while, but you will revert to the same old ways.

44 : 16

One day We shall seize them with a mighty onslaught to exact Ourretribution.

Muhammad(S) from

4 : 80

Anyone who obeys the Rasool, in fact, obeys Allah. As for thosewho pay no heed, they should know that We have not sent you as ataskmaster over them.

8 : 20

O believers! Obey Allah and his Rasool and do not turn your backto him, now that you have heard all.

44 : 13

But how can the acceptance of Our Message at that time bebeneficial to them? A Rasool (Muhammad), who made the thingsclear, has come to them

44 : 14

yet they deny him, saying: "He is a madman, taught by others!"

Mushrikeen, from the

6 : 106

Follow what is revealed to you from your Rabb, there is no godbut Him and turn aside from the mushrikin.

People from the Path of Allah

47 : 32

The unbelievers who obstruct others from the Way of Allah anddisputed the Rasool after the guidance has become clear to themshall in no way harm Allah; as a result, he will bring theirdeeds to nothing.

47 : 34

Those who disbelieve and obstruct the Way of Allah and die whilethey were still disbelievers, Allah will never forgive them.

58 : 16

They use their oaths as shields, and debar others from the Way ofAllah. They shall have a humiliating punishment.

58 : 17

Neither their riches nor their sons shall avail them anythingagainst Allah. They shall be the inmates of hell and live thereforever.

58 : 18

On the Day when Allah will raise them all to life, they willswear to Him as they now swear to you, thinking that their oathswill help them. By no means! Surely they are the liars.

58 : 19

Shaitan has gained possession of them, and caused them to forgetAllah's warning. They are the party of shaitan. Beware! Surely itis the party of shaitan that shall be the loser.

Pride, in

22 : 9

twisting things around in order to lead others astray from thePath of Allah - for such persons there is disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Judgment we shall make them taste thepunishment of burning fire,

22 : 10

saying: "This is what you prepared and sent forth with your ownhands." Rest assured that Allah is not unjust to His worshippers.

Quran, from the

9 : 127

Whenever a Surah is revealed they look at each other as if toask, "Is anyone watching?" Then they silently slip away. Allahhas slipped their hearts (from the guidance), for they are apeople who do not want to understand.

20 : 99

Thus do We relate to you, O Muhammad, some information of thepast events; and indeed We have sent you this Reminder (TheQur'an) from Our Own Self.

20 : 100

Those who reject it, shall bear a heavy burden on the Day ofResurrection.

20 : 101

For ever shall they bear it, and it will be indeed a very evilburden to bear on the Day of Resurrection.

20 : 124

but the one who will turn away from My reminder shall live ameager life and We shall raise him back to life as a blind personon the Day of Resurrection."

23 : 70

Or are they really convinced that he is a madman? Nay! In fact hehas brought them the Truth and most of them dislike the Truth.

38 : 67

Say: "This is a supreme message:

38 : 68

yet you pay no heed to it."

41 : 2

This is revealed by the Compassionate, the Merciful (Allah):

41 : 3

a Book whose verses are well explained, a Qur'an in the Arabiclanguage for people who understand.

41 : 4

A giver of good news and admonition: yet most of the people turntheir backs and do not listen.

Religion, from the

5 : 92

Obey Allah and obey the Rasool and abstain from these things. Ifyou do not, then you should know that Our Rasool's duty is onlyto pass on My message clearly.

21 : 109

If they give no heed, tell them: "I have warned you all alike incomplete fairness; now I do not know whether what you arethreatened with is near or far.

Religion by the hypocrites, from the

9 : 74

They swear by Allah that they said nothing when in fact theyuttered the words of unbelief and they committed Kufr afteraccepting Islam. They meditated a plot which they were unable tocarry out. They had no reason to be revengeful, except that Allahand His Rasool had enriched them through His bounty. Therefore,if they repent it will indeed be better for them; but if theyturn back (do not repent) Allah will punish them with a painfulpunishment in this life and in the Hereafter, and they shall havenone on earth to protect or help them.

Remembrance of Allah, from the

72 : 17

and thereby put them to test. He that gives no heed to thewarnings of his Rabb, shall be made to undergo severe punishment.

Reminders of Allah, from the

26 : 5

They have been turning their backs on each fresh warning thatcomes to them from the Compassionate (Allah).

Revelations of Allah, from the

6 : 4

Yet the reaction of the people has been that whenever arevelation came to them from their Rabb, they neglected it.

6 : 157

or lest you say: "If the Book had been revealed to us, we couldhave followed its guidance better than them," a veritable signhas now come to you from your Rabb as a guidance and mercy. Whothen is more unjust than the one who denies the revelations ofAllah and turns away from them? Very soon those who turn awayfrom Our revelations will face dreadful punishment for theiraversion.

6 : 158

Are they waiting for the angels or your Rabb to come down to themor are they waiting to be given a certain sign of your Rabb! Onthe Day when that certain sign of your Rabb appears, the beliefwill not profit that soul which did not believe before, or who, while professing to believe did not do good deeds. Say to them:"Wait if you will; we too are waiting."

18 : 51

I did not call them to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor their own creation, nor do I take those who lead mankind astray as My supporters.

18 : 59

All those nations whom We destroyed for their wrong doings were given respite and an appointed time for their destruction.

30 : 7

They only know the outward show of this world's life, but theyare heedless about the life to come.

32 : 22

Who could be more unjust than the one who is reminded of therevelations of his Rabb and he turns away from them? Surely Weshall take vengeance on such criminals.

Right, from the

38 : 28

Should We treat those who believe and do good deeds like thosewho create mischief in the earth? Should We treat the righteouslike the sinners?

Signs of Allah, from the

12 : 105

There are many signs in the heavens and the earth which they passby; yet they pay no attention to them!

21 : 32

And We have made the sky a safe canopy: yet they are heedless tothese signs.

36 : 46

Whenever any sign from the revelations of their Rabb comes tothem, they turn away from it.

54 : 2

Yet when they see a sign, the unbelievers turn their backs andsay: "This is an ingenious magic."

54 : 3

They deny this and keep on following their own fancies.Ultimately every matter shall be laid to rest.

Truth, from the

3 : 63

But if they turn away from accepting this challenge, it will beclear proof of their mischief and Allah has the full knowledge ofmischief-makers.

3 : 64

Say: "O people of the Book! Let us get together on what is commonbetween us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah; that weshall not associate any partners with Him; that we shall not takefrom among ourselves any lords beside Allah." If they reject yourinvitation then tell them: "Bear witness that we are Muslims (whohave surrendered to Allah)."

6 : 46

Ask them: "Just think, if Allah takes away your hearing and yoursight and seals up your hearts, is there any deity other thanAllah who could restore them to you?" See how We present Ourrevelations over and over again and yet they turn away.

43 : 87

If you ask them Who created them, they will certainly say:"Allah." How then are they deluded away from the truth?

Withdrawing from those turning away from the Message of Allah

53 : 29

Therefore, neglect those who ignore Our warnings and seek onlythe life of this world.

Turning Away From Allah

Turning Away From Allah

9 : 129

Now, if they turn away from you, (O Prophet) say: "Allah isall-sufficient for me. There is no god but Him. In Him I haveput my trust. He is the Rabb of the Mighty Throne."

10 : 32

The same Allah is your real Rabb: What is left after the truthexcept falsehood? How then can you turn away?

11 : 3

You should seek forgiveness of your Rabb and turn to Him inrepentance; He will grant you good provisions till an appointedterm, and bestow His grace on everyone who has merit! But if youturn away (pay no heed), I fear for you the punishment of a GreatDay.

16 : 82

If they still give no heed to you O Muhammad, you need not worry, for your duty is only to convey the message clearly.

29 : 61

If you ask the disbelievers as to who has created the heavens andthe earth, and subjected the sun and the moon to His laws? Theywill certainly say: "Allah!" How are they then being deluded awayfrom the truth?

29 : 63

And if you ask them who sends down rainwater from the sky andthereby raise the dead land back to life?" They will certainlysay: "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" Yet most of them do notuse their common sense.

39 : 6

He created you all from a single person, then from that person Hecreated his mate. He also created for you eight head of cattle inpairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers in stages, oneafter another, in three layers of darkness. This is Allah, yourRabb. To Him belongs the sovereignty. There is no god but Him.How can you then turn away from Him?

Turning Back

Apostates, as

47 : 25

Those who turn back to unbelief after the guidance has becomeclear are seduced by Shaitan who gives them false hopes.

47 : 26

That is why they said to those who showed an aversion to whatAllah has revealed: "We shall obey you in some matters," andAllah knows their secret talks.

47 : 27

Then what will they do when the angels carry off their souls, smiting their faces and their backs?

47 : 28

That will happen because they followed the way that called forthe wrath of Allah and hated to adopt the way of His pleasure, therefore He made all their deeds void.

47 : 29

Do those in whose hearts is a disease think that Allah will notreveal their malice?

47 : 30

Had We so pleased, We could have pointed them out to you and youwould have recognized them promptly by their faces. But you willsurely know them by the tone of their speech. Allah knows all ofyour actions.

Battlefield, on the

3 : 144

Muhammad is no more than a Rasool of Allah, like the Rasools thatpassed away before him. If he dies or is killed will you turnback on your heels (become unbelievers)? He that turns back onhis heels will do no harm to Allah; but Allah will reward thethankful.

Evil, from

30 : 41

Mischief (war between Roman and Persian empires) has appeared inthe land and the sea in consequence of man's own misdeeds.Through such wars Allah let people taste the fruit of theirdeeds, so that they may turn back from evil.

Guidance after

Guidance of Allah, from the

6 : 71

Ask the mushrikin: "Should we call on those, instead of Allah, who can neither benefit us nor harm us? Should we turn upon ourheels after Allah has guided us to the Right Way? Like the onewhom Shaitan has misled and is wandering around in the land, while his friends are calling him to the right way, shouting:"Come this way!" Tell them: "Allah's guidance is the onlyguidance. We are commanded to surrender (become Muslims) to theRabb of the worlds,

Quran, from the

3 : 23

Have you not seen the behavior of those (Jews) who have beengiven a portion of the Book? When they are invited to settletheir disputes according to the Book of Allah, some of them turnback and decline.

3 : 24

This is because they say: "The fire of Hell shall not touch us;even if it does, it will be for a few days." In their religionthey are deceived by their own self-invented beliefs.

3 : 25

What will they do when We will gather them together on the Daywhich is sure to come, when every soul will be given what it hasearned and there shall be no injustice?

Religion, from the

5 : 54

O believers! Whoever among you renounce Islam let him do so; soonAllah will replace them with others whom He will love and theywill love Him, who will be humble towards the believers, mightyagainst the unbelievers, striving hard in the way of Allah, andwill have no fear of reproach from any critic. Now this is thegrace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases. Allah hasboundless knowledge.

Revelations of Allah, from the

23 : 63

But their hearts are blind to all this; and their deeds are alsodifferent from the believers. They will continue doing theirmisdeeds

23 : 64

until when We seize those of them who live in comfort withpunishment; lo! Then they start crying for help in supplication.

23 : 65

We shall say: "Do not cry for help this Day, for surely from Usyou shall receive no help.

23 : 66

My revelations were recited to you, but you used to turn back onyour heels

23 : 67

in arrogance, talking nonsense about The Qur'an like one tellingfables by night.

23 : 68

Do they not ponder over the Word of Allah or has anything newcome to them which did not come to their forefathers?

23 : 69

Or is it because they do not recognize their Rasool, who is amember of their own community, that they deny him?

23 : 70

Or are they really convinced that he is a madman? Nay! In fact hehas brought them the Truth and most of them dislike the Truth.

23 : 71

- Had the Truth followed their appetites, the heavens, the earthand everything therein would have been disrupted. Nay! We havegiven them their reminder, but they are heedless to theirreminder.

Turning One's Back To

Enemy in Jihad, the

33 : 15

Even though they had made covenant with Allah not to show theirbacks, and the covenant with Allah must surely be answered for.

33 : 16

Tell them: "Running away will not do you any good, and if you arerunning away from death or being killed, you would enjoy thislife only a little while."

Turning To Allah

All together by Muslims

24 : 31

Likewise enjoin the believing women to lower their gaze and guardtheir modesty; not to display their beauty and ornaments exceptwhat normally appears thereof; let them draw their veils overtheir bosoms and not display their charms except to theirhusbands, their fathers, their fathers-in-law, their own sons, their stepsons, their own brothers, their nephews on eitherbrothers' or sisters' sides, their own womenfolk, their ownslaves, male attendants who lack sexual desires or small childrenwho have no carnal knowledge of women. Also enjoin them not tostrike their feet in order to draw attention to their hiddentrinkets. And O believers! Turn to Allah in repentance, all ofyou, about your past mistakes, so that you may attain salvation.

Following the Path of those

31 : 15

If they argue with you to commit shirk, of which you have noknowledge, then do not obey them; however you should still treatthem kindly in this world, but follow the way of that individualwho has turned to Me. After all, to Me is your return; then Iwill inform you about the reality of all that you have done."

Forgiveness, for

5 : 74

Will they not then turn to Allah and seek His forgiveness? Allahis Forgiving, Merciful.

Hope, in

9 : 59

It would have been better for them, if they had only been pleasedwith what Allah and His Rasool had given them and said: "Allah isall-sufficient to us! Soon Allah will give us of His bounty, andso will His Rasool. Indeed to Allah do we turn our hopes."

Only

22 : 27

and make a proclamation of Hajj (Pilgrimage) to mankind: theywill come to you on foot and on lean camels from every distantquarter,

22 : 28

so that they may witness the benefits which are made availablehere for them, and pronounce the name of Allah over the cattlewhich We have provided as food for them, on the appointed days, then eat meat themselves and feed the indigent and needy.

22 : 29

Then they should accomplish their needful acts of shaving orcutting their hair and taking a bath, fulfill their vows and gofor Tawaf-e-Ziyarah to the Ancient House.

22 : 30

This was the object for which the Ka'bah was built, and whoeverhonors the sacred rites of Allah, it is good for him in the sightof his Rabb. The meat of cattle is lawful to you, except what hasalready been mentioned to you; therefore, shun the abomination ofidols and shun all false statements.

22 : 31

Dedicate yourselves to Allah and do not commit shirk with Him:for anyone who commits shirk, it is as though he had fallen fromthe sky; then his body is either snatched away by birds orcarried away by the wind to some far-off place,

30 : 31

Turn in repentance to Him, fear Him, establish Salah (regularfive times daily prayers) and do not be of the mushrikin

Pilgrimage, on the

Repentant

9 : 112

Those that turn to Allah in repentance, serve Him, praise Him,move about in the land for His sake, make Rakuh (bow down inprayer) and Sajud (prostrate themselves in prayer), enjoin whatis good and forbid what is evil, and observe the limits(permissions and prohibitions) set by Allah (they are the oneswho make such a bargain with Allah). O Prophet, proclaim the goodnews to such believers.

9 : 126

Do they not see that they are tested every year once or twice?Yet they neither repent nor learn a lesson from this.

11 : 3

You should seek forgiveness of your Rabb and turn to Him inrepentance; He will grant you good provisions till an appointedterm, and bestow His grace on everyone who has merit! But if youturn away (pay no heed), I fear for you the punishment of a GreatDay.

17 : 25

Your Rabb knows best what is in your hearts. If you do gooddeeds, certainly He is most forgiving to those who turn to Him inrepentance.

34 : 9

Do they not see the sky and the earth that surrounds them fromfront and from behind? If We want, We can cave in the earth toswallow them up or let the fragments of the sky fall upon them.Surely there is a sign in this for every devotee that turns toAllah in repentance.

39 : 17

As for those who refrain from worshipping Taghut (Satanic forces)and turn to Allah in repentance, there is good news. So OProphet, give good news to My servants

46 : 15

We have enjoined man to treat his parents with kindness. Withmuch trouble his mother bore him, and much pain did she give himbirth. His bearing and his weaning took thirty months. When hereaches the age of full strength and becomes forty years old, hesays: "My Rabb! Grant me the grace that I may thank you for thefavors which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and thatI may do good deeds that will please You, and grant me goodchildren. Surely I turn to You in repentance and surely I am ofthose who are Muslims."

46 : 16

Such are the people from whom We shall accept the best of theirdeeds and overlook their misdeeds. They shall be among theresidents of paradise: true is the promise that has been made tothem in this life.

66 : 8

O believers! Turn to Allah in sincere repentance. It may well bethat your Rabb will remove from you your sins and admit you togardens beneath which rivers flow. On that Day Allah will nothumiliate the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their lightwill shine in front of them and on their right, and they willsay: "Our Rabb! Perfect our light for us and grant usforgiveness, for You have power over all things."

Tussle

Believers and disbelievers, between

4 : 141

These hypocrites are the ones who wait and watch to see how thewind blows. If Allah grants you a victory, they say: "Were we notwith you?" And if the unbelievers gain success, they will say tothem: "Were we not strong enough to fight against you? Yet weprotected you from the believers (Muslims)." Allah will judgebetween you and them on the Day of Resurrection. Allah will notleave the way for the unbelievers to triumph over the believers.

Two

Taking instead of One God

16 : 51

Allah has commanded: "You shall not worship two gods: thereexists only One God, I am the One Whom you should fear."
