وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ - يَعْنِى ابْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ - عَنْ يَزِيدَ - يَعْنِى ابْنَ أَبِى عُبَيْدٍ - قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرًا مَوْلَى آبِى اللَّحْمِ قَالَ أَمَرَنِى مَوْلاَىَ أَنْ أُقَدِّدَ لَحْمًا فَجَاءَنِى مِسْكِينٌ فَأَطْعَمْتُهُ مِنْهُ فَعَلِمَ بِذَلِكَ مَوْلاَىَ فَضَرَبَنِى فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَدَعَاهُ. فَقَالَ « لِمَ ضَرَبْتَهُ ». فَقَالَ يُعْطِى طَعَامِى بِغَيْرِ أَنْ آمُرَهُ. فَقَالَ « الأَجْرُ بَيْنَكُمَا ».
Umair, the freed slave of Abu Al-Lahm, said: ‘My master ordered me to cut some meat into strips, and a poor person came to me so, I fed him some of it. My master found out about that and beat me. I went to Messenger Of Allah (SAW) and told him about and he summoned him and said: ‘Why did you beat him?’ He said: ‘He gave my food without instructions from me.’ He said: ‘The reward is shared between you.’’
