Sahih Muslim Book - 44, Hadith - 6332

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : {وَمَنْ يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ} ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ مَنْ تَأْمُرُونِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ ؟ فَلَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضْعًا وَسَبْعِينَ سُورَةً ، وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنِّي أَعْلَمُهُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللهِ ، وَلَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ أَحَدًا أَعْلَمُ مِنِّي لَرَحَلْتُ إِلَيْهِ. قَالَ شَقِيقٌ : فَجَلَسْتُ فِي حَلَقِ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَمَا سَمِعْتُ أَحَدًا يَرُدُّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَلاَ يَعِيبُهُ.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah said: ‘... Whosoever deceives his companions as regards the spoils of war, he shall bring forth on the Day of Resurrection that which he took (illegally)... According to whose recitation do you want me to recite? I recited seventy-odd Surah to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) ' and the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) know that I am the most knowledgeable of them of the Book of Allah. If I knew that someone was more knowledgeable than myself, I would travel and go to him." Shaqiq said: "I sat in the circles of the Companions of Muhammad (s.a.w) ' and I never heard anyone refute him or criticize him."
