حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: لاَ يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثِ لَيَالٍ ، يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيُعْرِضُ هَذَا وَيُعْرِضُ هَذَا ، وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلاَمِ.
It was narrated from Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "It is not permissible for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three nights, each of them turning away from the other when they meet. The better of them is the first to greet the other with Salam."
