Sahih Muslim Book - 50, Hadith - 7117
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِى حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِى صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « قَارِبُوا وَسَدِّدُوا وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّهُ لَنْ يَنْجُوَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ بِعَمَلِهِ ». قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلاَ أَنْتَ قَالَ « وَلاَ أَنَا إِلاَّ أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِىَ اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ ».
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'Be moderate and aim to do good, and understand that none of you will be saved by virtue of his deeds."' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, not even you?' He said: 'Not even me, unless Allah encompasses me with His mercy and grace.'"
