Sahih Muslim Book - 6, Hadith - 1756
وَحَدَّثَنِى هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِى نَافِعٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَجْعَلْ آخِرَ صَلاَتِهِ وِتْرًا قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- يَأْمُرُهُمْ.
Nafi' narrated that Ibn 'Umar used to say: "Whoever prays at night, let him make the last of his prayer Witr before dawn comes. This is what the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) used to enjoin on them."
