It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "I stayed overnight in the house of my maternal aunt Maimunah, and I watched to see how the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) would pray. He got up, urinated, then washed his face and hands, then he slept. Then he got up and went to a water skin, undid its straps, and poured some water into a bowl or vessel. He tipped it towards himself with his hand and performed Wudu' well, a Wudu' that was somewhere between the most perfect and the most light. Then I came and stood beside him, and stood on his left. He took hold of me and made me stand on his right. The prayer of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) included thirteen Rak'ah, then he slept until he was breathing deeply. We knew that when he slept he breathed deeply. Then he went out to pray, and he prayed, and said in his prayer, or in his prostration: 'Allahummaj'al fi qalb'i nuran, wa fi sam'i nuran wa fi basari nuran wa 'an yam'in'i nuran wa 'an shimal'i nuran wa amam'i nuran wa khalfi nuran wa fawqi nuran wa taht'i nuran waj'al li nura (O Allah, put in my heart light, in my hearing light, in my seeing light, to my right light, to my left light, in front of me light, behind me light, above me light, below me light, give me light) - or he said: 'waj'alni nura (make me light.)"'

"The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him."
