Remember Settings

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلْفَجْرِ

By the morning,

1

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

and the ten nights (first ten days of Dhul-Hijja),

2

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ

the even and the odd,

3

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

and the night when it departs!

4

هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ

Is there not in these an oath (enough evidence) for those who use their common sense?

5

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Have you not seen how your Rabb dealt with 'Ad?

6

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ

The residents of Iram, the city of lofty pillars,

7

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

the like of which had never been built in other cities.

8

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ

And with the people of Thamud who hewed out their dwellings in the rocks of the valley?

9

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ

And with Fir'on (Pharaoh) the owner of stakes?

10

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

They all transgressed beyond bounds in their cities,

11

فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ

and committed great mischief therein.

12

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

Therefore, your Rabb let loose on them His scourge of torment.

13

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ

Surely your Rabb is ever watchful.

14

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ

As for man, when his Rabb tries him through giving him honor and blessings, he says: "My Rabb is bountiful to me."

15

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ

But when He tries him through restricting his subsistence, he says: "My Rabb has humiliated me."

16

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ

Nay! But you did not show kindness to the orphan,

17

وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ

nor did you encourage each other in feeding the poor.

18

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا

Greedily you lay your hands on the inheritance of the weak,

19

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

and you love wealth with all your hearts.

20

كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

Nay! You should know, when the earth will be pounded to powder,

21

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

your Rabb will come, with angels standing in ranks,

22

وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

hell shall be brought in sight. On that Day man will remember his deeds, but how is that remembrance going to profit him?

23

يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى

He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth some good deeds for this life of mine."

24

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

None can punish as Allah will punish on that Day,

25

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

and none can bind as He will bind.

26

يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

To the righteous soul it will be said: "O fully satisfied soul!

27

ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً

Return to your Rabb, well pleased with Him and well-pleasing to Him.

28

فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى

Join My servants,

29

وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى

and enter My paradise."

30
