بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ

By the morning day light,

1

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ

and by the night when it covers with darkness,

2

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ

your Rabb has neither forsaken you, O Muhammad, nor is He displeased.

3

وَلَلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

Certainly the later period shall be better for you than the earlier.

4

وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰٓ

Soon your Rabb shall grant you something with which you will be well-pleased.

5

أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَـَٔاوَىٰ

Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter?

6

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلًّا فَهَدَىٰ

Did He not find you lost and gave you guidance?

7

وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ

Did He not find you poor and made you self-sufficient?

8

فَأَمَّا ٱلْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ

Therefore, do not treat the orphan with harshness

9

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ

and do not chide away the beggar,

10

وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ

and rehearse the bounty of your Rabb.
