وَحَدَّثَنِى زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَإِسْحَاقُ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِى زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ ». قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ. قَالَ « إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ فِى ذَلِكَ مِثْلِى إِنِّى أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِى رَبِّى وَيَسْقِينِى فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الأَعْمَالِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ ».
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with them] said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Do not perform Wisal.’ They said: ‘But you perform Wisal, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said: ‘You are not like me in that. During the night, my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink. Take upon yourselves only those deeds that you are capable of.’”
