حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِىِّ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- عَنْ أَكْلِ الْبَصَلِ وَالْكُرَّاثِ. فَغَلَبَتْنَا الْحَاجَةُ فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهَا فَقَالَ « مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ الْمُنْتِنَةِ فَلاَ يَقْرَبَنَّ مَسْجِدَنَا فَإِنَّ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ تَأَذَّى مِمَّا يَتَأَذَّى مِنْهُ الإِنْسُ ».
It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) forbade eating onions and leeks, but we were overcome by need and we ate some of them. He said: 'Whoever eats from these foul-smelling plants, let him not come near our Masjid, for the Angels are offended by the same things that offend humans."'
