Sahih Muslim Book - 5, Hadith - 1263

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ أَبِى سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- لَمَّا صَلَّى قَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى الْجَمَلِ الأَحْمَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « لاَ وَجَدْتَ إِنَّمَا بُنِيَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ لِمَا بُنِيَتْ لَهُ ».

It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Buraidah, from his father, that when the Prophet (s.a.w) had completed his prayers, a man stood up and said: "Who has found the red camel?" The Prophet (s.a.w) said: "May you not find it. The "Masajid were only built for that for which they were built."
