حَدَّثَنِى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ غِيَاثٍ - عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِىِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ عَطَسَ عِنْدَ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- رَجُلاَنِ فَشَمَّتَ أَحَدَهُمَا وَلَمْ يُشَمِّتِ الآخَرَ فَقَالَ الَّذِى لَمْ يُشَمِّتْهُ عَطَسَ فُلاَنٌ فَشَمَّتَّهُ وَعَطَسْتُ أَنَا فَلَمْ تُشَمِّتْنِى. قَالَ « إِنَّ هَذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تَحْمَدِ اللَّهَ ».
It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "Two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet ~, and he said: 'Yarhamuk Allah' to one of them, and not to the other. The one to whom he did not say it, said: 'So-and-so sneezed and you said: "Yarhamuk Allah" to him, but you did not say it to me.' He said: 'He praised Allah (said Al-Hamdu Lillah) but you did not praise Allah."'
