حَدَّثَنِى عَلِىُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِىُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِىِّ عَنْ أَبِى بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ لَمَّا أُصِيبَ عُمَرُ جَعَلَ صُهَيْبٌ يَقُولُ وَاأَخَاهْ. فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ يَا صُهَيْبُ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَ « إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَىِّ ».
It was narrated from Abu Burdah that his father said: "When 'Umar was attacked, Suhaib started saying: 'O my brother!' 'Umar said to him: 'O Suhaib, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: The deceased is tormented because of the crying of the living."'?
