حَدَّثَنِى سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْغَيْلاَنِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِى سَلَمَةَ الْمَاجِشُونُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- لاَ نَذْكُرُ إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ حَتَّى جِئْنَا سَرِفَ فَطَمِثْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَأَنَا أَبْكِى فَقَالَ « مَا يُبْكِيكِ ». فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّى لَمْ أَكُنْ خَرَجْتُ الْعَامَ قَالَ « مَا لَكِ لَعَلَّكِ نَفِسْتِ ». قُلْتُ نَعَمْ. قَالَ « هَذَا شَىْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ افْعَلِى مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِى بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرِى ». قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- لأَصْحَابِهِ « اجْعَلُوهَا عُمْرَةً ». فَأَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلاَّ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ - قَالَتْ - فَكَانَ الْهَدْىُ مَعَ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَأَبِى بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَذَوِى الْيَسَارَةِ ثُمَّ أَهَلُّوا حِينَ رَاحُوا - قَالَتْ - فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ طَهَرْتُ فَأَمَرَنِى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَأَفَضْتُ - قَالَتْ - فَأُتِينَا بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ. فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا فَقَالُوا أَهْدَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ. فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَتْ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِى بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِى عَلَى جَمَلِهِ - قَالَتْ - فَإِنِّى لأَذْكُرُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ أَنْعُسُ فَتُصِيبُ وَجْهِى مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ حَتَّى جِئْنَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنْهَا بِعُمْرَةٍ جَزَاءً بِعُمْرَةِ النَّاسِ الَّتِى اعْتَمَرُوا.

It was narrated that Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her] said: “We set out with the Messenger of Allah (SAW), not thinking of anything but Hajj, until we came to Sarif, where my menses began. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) entered upon me and found me weeping. He said: “Why are you weeping?” I said: “By Allah, I wish that I had not come out this year.” He said: “What is the matter with you? Have your menses begun?” I said: “Yes.” He said: “This is something that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam – peace be upon him. Do what the pilgrims do, but do not circumambulate the House until you had purified yourself.” When I came to Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to his Companions: ‘Make it Umrah.’ So the people exited Ihram (after performing Umrah) except those who had sacrificial animals with them. The Prophet (SAW), Abu Bakr, Umar and those who were well off had sacrificial animals with them. Then they entered Ihram for Umrah when they went to Mina. On the Day of Sacrifice my menses ended, and the Messenger of Allah (SAW) told me to perform Tawaf Al-ifadah. Some beef was brought to us, and I said: ‘What is this?’ They said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (SAW) has scarified cows on behalf of his wives.’ When it was the night of Al-Hasbah I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (SAW), the people are going back having performed Hajj and Umrah, and I am going back having performed Hajj (only).’ So he told Abdur –Rahman bin Abi Bakr to led me ride behind him on his camel. I remember that I was a young girl and I got sleepy and my face touched the back of saddle. Then we came to At-Tanim where I entered Ihram for Umrah, to make up for the Umrah that the people had already done.”
