حَدَّثَنِى زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَفْوَانَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ح وَحَدَّثَنِى حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِى يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- لِلْمَدِينَةِ « لَيَتْرُكَنَّهَا أَهْلُهَا عَلَى خَيْرِ مَا كَانَتْ مُذَلَّلَةً لِلْعَوَافِى ». يَعْنِى السِّبَاعَ وَالطَّيْرَ. قَالَ مُسْلِمٌ أَبُو صَفْوَانَ هَذَا هُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ يَتِيمُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ كَانَ فِى حَجْرِهِ.
It was narrated from Sa‘eed bin Al-Musayyab that he heard Abu Hurairah say: “The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said of Al-Madinah: ‘Its people will abandon it when it is the best it ever was, and it will be taken over by wild animals and birds.”’Muslim said: This Abu Safwan (one of the narrators) is’ Abdullah bin ‘Abdul-Malik, an orphan who lived under the care of Ibn Juraij for ten years.
