It was narrated that Abu Mas'ud AI-Ansari said: "I was beating a slave of mine, and I heard a voice behind me (saying): 'You should realize, Abu Mas'ud, that Allah has more power over you than you have over him.' I turned around, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w). I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he is free for the Face of Allah.' He said: 'If you had not done that, the Fire would have scorched you,' or 'the Fire would have touched you."'
