وَحَدَّثَنِى سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِى مَخْزُومٍ سَرَقَتْ فَأُتِىَ بِهَا النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَعَاذَتْ بِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « وَاللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لَقَطَعْتُ يَدَهَا ». فَقُطِعَتْ.
It was narrated from Jubair that a woman from Banu Makhzum stole, and she was brought to the Prophet (s.a.w). She sought refuge with Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (s.a.w), but the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "If Fatimah were to steal I would cut off her hand." And her hand was cut off.
