Sahih Muslim Book - 3, Hadith - 740
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ قَالَ تَمَارَوْا فِي الْغُسْلِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ أَمَّا أَنَا فَإِنِّي أَغْسِلُ رَأْسِي كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَّا أَنَا فَإِنِّي أُفِيضُ عَلَى رَأْسِي ثَلَاثَ أَكُفٍّ.
It was narrated that Jubair bin Mut'im said: "They (people) argued about Ghusl in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w). One of them said: 'As for me, I wash my head in such and such a manner.' The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'As for me, I pour three handfuls of water over my head.'"
