Sahih Muslim Book - 34, Hadith - 5023
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَقُولُ: أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ، وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ، وَنَهَانَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحِمَارِ الأَهْلِيِّ.
Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "At the time of Khaibar, we ate the meat of horses and onagers, but the Prophet (s.a.w) forbade us (to eat) the meat of domestic donkeys."
