حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ الرَّجُلِ قَيْحًا يَرِيهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا. قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: إِلاَّ أَنَّ حَفْصًا لَمْ يَقُلْ يَرِيهِ.
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'If the belly of the man were to be filled with pus that corrodes it, that would be better than being filled with poetry."' Abu Bakr (Ibn Abi Shaibah) said: "But Hafs did not say: 'corrodes it."'
