Tirmidhi Book 47, Hadith 3267
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُنَادُونَكَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لا يَعْقِلُونَ سورة الحجرات آية 4، قَالَ: فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ حَمْدِي زَيْنٌ وَإِنَّ ذَمِّي شَيْنٌ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ذَاكَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى ، قَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.
Narrated Al-Bara bin 'Azib: regarding the saying of Allah the Most High: Verily, those who call you from behind the dwellings, most of them have no sense (49:4). He said: A man stood and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Indeed my praise (of others) is worthwhile and my censure is appropriate.' So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'That is for Allah, the Mighty and Sublime.'
