this, because you made God's messages the target of your mockery, having allowed the life of this world to beguile you!31 On that Day, therefore, they will not be brought out of the fire,32 nor will they be allowed to make amends.
  - Mohammad Asad
Mohammad Asad

Lit., "since the life of this world has beguiled you": implying that this self-abandonment to worldly pursuits was the cause of their scornful disregard of God's messages.

Lit., "out of it". Regarding the stress on the phrase, "On that Day", see note [114] on the last paragraph of 6:128 , note [10] on 40:12 and note [59] on 43:74 .

This is because you used to take Allah's revelations as a joke and you let the worldly life deceive you." Therefore, on this Day neither they shall be taken out of hell, nor shall they be given a chance for amending their ways to please their Rabb.
  - Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
This is because you made a mockery of Allah's revelations, and were deluded by 'your' worldly life.' So 'from' that Day 'on' they will not be taken out of the Fire, nor will they be allowed to appease 'their Lord'.
  - Mustafa Khattab
Mustafa Khattab
This, forasmuch as ye made the revelations of Allah a jest, and the life of the world beguiled you. Therefor this day they come not forth from thence, nor can they make amends
  - Marmaduke Pickthall
Marmaduke Pickthall
"This because ye used to take the Signs of Allah in jest and the life of the world deceived you." (From) the Day therefore they shall not be taken out thence nor shall they be received into Grace. 4772
  - Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Abdullah Yusuf Ali

It is implied that 'you deliberately allowed yourselves to be deceived by the vanities of this world', or 'that you put yourselves into a position where you were deceived, for you were expressly warned against Evil.'
