1. Halal & Haram in Daily Life

Islam teaches that everything is halal unless clearly made haram.

Qur’an Principle

“He has explained in detail what is forbidden to you, except under necessity.”
— Qur’an 6:119


A. Food

Halal Food
  • Meat slaughtered Islamically
  • Seafood
  • Grains, fruits, vegetables
  • Dairy from halal animals
Haram Foods
  • Pork
  • Alcohol
  • Animals not slaughtered Islamically
  • Blood
  • Carrion

Qur’an Source:

“Forbidden to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine…”
— Qur’an 5:3


B. Clothing

Principles:

  • Halal source
  • Modest
  • Not imitating the opposite gender

Hadith:
“Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
— Sunan of Abu Dawood

For Men
  • Cover navel to knee
  • Gold & silk are prohibited
For Women
  • Loose, opaque clothing
  • Cover body except face & hands (majority opinion)

Women instructed to draw veils over their chests.
— Qur’an 24:31


C. Entertainment

Permissible unless it involves:

  • Immorality
  • Nudity
  • Alcohol
  • Excessive time wasting

D. Relationships

Forbidden:

  • Zina
  • Boyfriend/girlfriend relationships
  • Flirtation
  • Pornography

“Do not come near zina.”
— Qur’an 17:32


2. Fasting Rules (Sawm)

What Breaks the Fast

  • Eating intentionally
  • Drinking intentionally
  • Intercourse
  • Deliberate vomiting

Forgotten eating does not break the fast.
— Sahih Bukhari


Missed Fasts

Make up missed fasting due to:

  • Sickness
  • Travel
  • Menstruation
  • Pregnancy

“Then an equal number of days must be made up.”
— Qur’an 2:184


3. Modesty & Hijab

Hadith: “Modesty is part of faith.”
— Sahih Muslim

For Men

  • Lower the gaze
  • Wear modest clothing

Men instructed to lower their gaze.
— Qur’an 24:30

For Women

  • Loose, opaque hijab
  • Cover body except face & hands (majority view)

Qur’an commands for hijab and modest covering.
— Qur’an 24:31 and Qur’an 33:59


4. Islamic Manners & Daily Etiquette

A. Giving Salaam

“Spread Salaam among yourselves.”
— Sunan ibn Majah


B. Eating Manners

  • Wash hands
  • Say Bismillah
  • Eat with right hand

Hadith: “Eat with your right hand…”
— Sahih Muslim


C. Visiting Etiquette

Seek permission before entering a home.
— Qur’an 24:27


D. Sleep Sunnah

  • Perform Wudu before sleep — Sahih Bukhari
  • Recite Ayatul Kursi — Sahih Bukhari
  • Recite Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas — Sahih Bukhari
  • Sleep on right side — Sahih Bukhari
  • Say: “Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.” — Sahih Bukhari
