فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبًا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ Qur’an Az-Zariyat (51:59)

And, verily, they who are bent on doing evil shall have their share [of evil] like unto the share of their fellows [of old]:39 so let them not ask Me to hasten [their doom]!
  - Mohammad Asad
Mohammad Asad

Implying that every act of evildoing bears the seed of its own retribution either in this world or in the hereafter.

Surely those who are wrongdoers, shall have their portion of torment similar to the portion of their predecessors; so let them not challenge Me to hurry it on.
  - Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
Muhammad Farooq-i-Azam Malik
The wrongdoers will certainly have a share 'of the torment' like that of their predecessors. So do not let them ask Me to hasten 'it'.
  - Mustafa Khattab
Mustafa Khattab
And lo! for those who (now) do wrong there is an evil day like unto the evil day (which came for) their likes (of old); so let them not ask Me to hasten on (that day).
  - Marmaduke Pickthall
Marmaduke Pickthall
For the wrongdoers their portion is like unto the portion of their fellows (of earlier generations): then let them not ask Me to hasten (that portion)! 5035
  - Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Each generation, that acts like any of its predecessors, must meet a similar fate. If the wicked came to an evil end in the past, the same results will follow in the present and the future. The punishment will come suddenly enough: let them not in mockery ask that it should be hastened.
