وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَـٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَـٰرِهُونَ Qur’an Al-Tawba (9:54)Wam a manaAAahum an tuqbala minhum nafaq a tuhum ill a annahum kafaroo bi A ll a hi wabirasoolihi wal a yatoona a l ss al a ta ill a wahum kus a l a wal a yunfiqoona ill a wahum k a rihoon a
Lit., "nothing prevents their spending from being accepted from them except that...", etc.
Lit., "and they do not approach prayer without being reluctant" - i.e., when they participate in acts of worship they do it only for the sake of outward conformity, and not out of inner conviction.
