(John the Baptist), birth

3 : 39

As he stood praying in the Mahrab (a prayer place in thesanctuary) the angels called out to him saying: "Allah gives yougood news of a son to be named Yahya (John), he will confirm theword of Allah, he will be a great leader and chaste, a Prophetand a righteous man."

To Yahya, when he became old enough, We said: " Hold firmly tothe Book." We granted him wisdom, while he was yet a boy,

We accepted his prayer and gave him Yahya (John), curing his wifefor him to bear a child. They were ever quick in emulating gooddeeds and called on Us with hope, fear, and submission.
