133وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
134إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
135إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
136ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
137وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
138وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
[133-138] And Lot also was one of the Messengers. Remember when We rescued him and all his household, except for an old woman who was among those who remained behind.75 Then We destroyed the others completely. Now you pass by their ruins by day and by night.76 Have you then no sense?
75This implies the wife of the Prophet Lot, who did not migrate with her illustrious husband, but remained behind with her people and was punished.
76The reference is to the mined habitations of the people of Lot by which the Quraishite merchants passed day and night during their trade journeys to Syria and Palestine.
