وَحَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِىُّ جَمِيعًا عَنْ حَمَّادٍ - قَالَ خَلَفٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ - عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ قَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ. فَقَالَتْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ سَمِعَ شَيْئًا فَلَمْ يَحْفَظْهُ إِنَّمَا مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِىٍّ وَهُمْ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ « أَنْتُمْ تَبْكُونَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُعَذَّبُ ».
It was narrated from Hisham bin 'Urwah that his father said: "Mention was made in the presence of 'Aishah of what Ibn 'Umar said, that the deceased is tormented because of his family's crying for him. She said: 'May Allah have mercy on Abu 'Abdur-Rahman, he heard something but did not memorize it properly. Rather the funeral of a Jew passed by the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) and they were crying for him, and he said: "You are crying and he is being tormented."
