Sahih Muslim Book - 11, Hadith - 2209
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْغُبَرِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « إِنَّ أَخًا لَكُمْ قَدْ مَاتَ فَقُومُوا فَصَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ ». قَالَ فَقُمْنَا فَصَفَّنَا صَفَّيْنِ.
It was narrated that Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'A brother of yours has died. Get up and offer the funeral prayer for him.' So we stood and formed two rows.''
