Safwan bin Yala bin Umayyah narrated that Yala used to say to Umar bin Al-Khattab [May Allah be pleased with them]: “Would that I could see the Prophet of Allah (SAW) while the Revelation comes to him.” When the Prophet (SAW) was at Al-Jiranah, and there was a cloth over the Prophet (SAW) with which he was being shaded, and some of his Companions, including Umar, were with him, a man came to him wearing a woolen Jubbah that was daubed with perfume. He said: “O Messenger of Allah (SAW), what do you think of a man who enters Ihram for Umrah wearing Jubbah after daubing it with perfume?” The Prophet (SAW) looked at him for a moment, and then he fell silent. The Revelation came to him and Umar gestured to Yala bin Umayyah, telling him to come. Yala came, and he put his head in, and he saw the Prophet (SAW) red in the face and breathing deeply. Then he was relieved of that and he said: “Where is the one who asked me about Umrah just now?” The man was sought, and brought, and Prophet (SAW) said: “As for the perfume that is on you, wash it off three times, and as for the Jubbah, take it off, then do in your Umrah what you would do in your Hajj.”
