حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَغَارُ عَلَى اللاَّتِى وَهَبْنَ أَنْفُسَهُنَّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَأَقُولُ وَتَهَبُ الْمَرْأَةُ نَفْسَهَا فَلَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ (تُرْجِى مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُؤْوِى إِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَمَنِ ابْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ) قَالَتْ قُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَى رَبَّكَ إِلاَّ يُسَارِعُ لَكَ فِى هَوَاكَ.
It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "I used to feel jealous of the women who offered themselves (in marriage) to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), and I would say: Would a woman offer herself?' When Allah, the Most High, revealed the words: "You can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive whom you will. And whomsoever you desire of those whom you have set aside her turn temporarily), ..., said: 'By Allah, I see that your Lord is quick to respond to your wishes."'
