قَالَ مُسْلِمٌ وَرَوَى اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِى جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِى حَدْرَدٍ الأَسْلَمِىِّ فَلَقِيَهُ فَلَزِمَهُ فَتَكَلَّمَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمَا فَمَرَّ بِهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقَالَ « يَا كَعْبُ ». فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يَقُولُ النِّصْفَ فَأَخَذَ نِصْفًا مِمَّا عَلَيْهِ وَتَرَكَ نِصْفًا.
It was narrated from Ka'b bin Malik that he was owed money by 'Abdullah bin Abl Hadrad Al-Aslami. He met him and pressured him to pay it, and they spoke until their voices became loud. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) passed by them and said: "O Ka'b!" and gestured with his hand as if he was telling him, 'Half.' So he took half of what was owed him and waive the rest.
